Description

Muscogee (Creek) Nation Scholarship Foundation Program is a tribal government non-profit program qualified under Section 7871 (a) of the Internal Revenue Service Code. This status is only afforded to federally recognized tribes. All contributions to the Scholarship Foundation Program are fully tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Lou Canard Navarro Scholarship

Scholarship Description

The Lou Canard Navarro Scholarship was established in the memory of Ms. Navarro by her grandchildren. The purpose of this Scholarship is to encourage Muscogee (Creek) citizen involvement in the professions of architecture, design, and engineering.

Amount of Scholarship Award $1,000.00

Purpose and Application of Funds

The purpose of this scholarship is to financially assist Muscogee (Creek) students who might not otherwise have the financial means to further their education and to encourage Muscogee (Creek) citizen involvement in the professions of architecture, design, and engineering. This scholarship will be awarded to two Muscogee (Creek) students, 1st place $700.00 and 2nd place $300.00. The donors reserve the right to award 100% of the scholarship to the 1st place selection in the event that there is not a 2nd place selection or to select 1st and 2nd places from the general pool of candidates if the criteria is not met. This scholarship award can be utilized to pay for the required cost of tuition, fees, books, tools, supplies, testing or examination fees, transportation, or other incidental required cost related to the cost of the post-secondary education institution.

Eligibility Guidelines

1. Must be an enrolled citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.

2. Must be enrolled full-time and pursuing a degree in architecture, design, or engineering. Successful applicants are encouraged to reapply each academic year.

3. Must complete a Scholarship Foundation Program Application.

4. Must write an essay “How can I express my culture in my chosen profession?”

5. Must grant an interview to the donors if requested.

6. Must agree to authorize the Scholarship Foundation Program to publicize the scholarship award if selected.
